Postman API Platform Delivered 339% Return on Investment, Independent Study Finds

Total Economic Impact study shows power of API-first approach, including 95% reduction in outages and degradations caused by code errors among Postman customers

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Postman, the world’s leading API Platform, today unveiled a study conducted by Forrester Consulting on the Total Economic Impact™ of the Postman API Platform. The study found the Postman API Platform delivered a 339% return on investment and an $8.17 million net present value over three years for a composite organization representative of interviewed customers.

Forrester conducted extensive research into four Postman Enterprise customers. Researchers then aggregated the interviewees’ experiences and combined results into a composite organization with 1,500 developers, 10 million customers, and $500 million in revenue per year. The goal is to provide enterprises with a framework to evaluate the potential cost savings and business benefits delivered by the Postman API Platform.

Interviewees reported automating phases of their development with the Postman API Platform, which streamlined and democratized their QA testing. The result in year three was 75% developer time savings from improved collaboration, 95% reduction in outages and degradations caused by code errors, and a 75% reduction in the developer onboarding process. Additional financial benefits include:

  • Developer time savings from improved collaboration in API design valued at $4.7 million.
  • Faster developer onboarding and time to value worth $2.3 million.
  • Improved reliability with the Postman API Platform saving $453,300 from code-related business disruption.
  • Reduced support center costs related to development issues valued at $2.0 million.

“The purpose of this study was to understand the economic impact that the Postman API Platform can have for large enterprises—many of whom are embracing an API-first approach,” said Abhinav Asthana, co-founder and CEO at Postman. “We are proud that Postman delivers value so broadly not just by enabling financial advantages, but by improving the developer experience and quality of work.”

The Total Economic Impact™ of the Postman API Platform was commissioned by Postman and conducted in November 2022. Visit Postman’s website to download the full study.
