BioTalent Canada Named a 2022 Best Workplaces for Mental Wellness and in Healthcare

OTTAWA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BioTalent Canada has been named one of the country’s Best Workplaces for Mental Wellness and Best Workplacesin Healthcare for 2022.

These recognitions come from Great Place to Work Canada and cap a progressive year for BioTalent Canada where the organization continued to focus on inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility (IDEA principles) within the workplace.

Specifically, BioTalent Canada launched its I.D.E.A.L. Biosciences Employer designation, a recognition of Canadian biotech companies that embody the principles of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility leadership.

“These two recognitions are an honour and validation of the importance we place on mental health and the overall well-being of staff,” says Rob Henderson, President and CEO of BioTalent Canada. “The physical and mental health of our employees remains our top priority, and we continue to focus on equity and diversity internally and externally.”

Mental Wellness continues to be a top-of-mind issue for Canadians as they emerge from the pandemic. The latest data from Statistics Canada shows a sharp increase in reported mental health issues since 2020, with about one-fifth (20%) of Canadians reporting symptoms of depression, anxiety, or posttraumatic stress disorder.

Best Workplaces™ identified Canadian employers with high scores on a Mental Wellness Index that was rated by employees within various organizations. Best Workplaces™ also reviewed the programs offered by employers that encourage and support mental wellness and health among staff.

The Best Workplaces™ in Healthcare award singles out organizations and their employees for distinction who are dedicated to caring for others and improving the health of those around them.

BioTalent Canada offers its employees a robust healthcare benefits package that includes a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program and a flexible Health Care Spending Account. Additionally, the organization encourages employees to regularly take breaks in their workday, including virtual lunches, social activities and exercise.

This recognition comes in the same year that BioTalent Canada was named one of the 50 Best Workplaces in Canada with 10-50 employees and awarded a Great Place to Work® certification for 2022.

“We take our responsibilities seriously, both to our staff and at the community level,” says Henderson. “Going forward, we will continue to strive to create a healthy and positive work environment for everyone at our organization.”
