Scale Computing Customer Edge Data Center Project Named a Finalist in 2022 DCD>Awards

INDIANAPOLIS--()--Scale Computing, a market leader in edge computing, virtualization, and hyperconverged solutions, today announced that Data Center Dynamics has named the company’s work with Northern Marine Group as a finalist in the Edge Data Center Project of the Year category in the 2022 DCD>Awards.

According to DCD, edge is being driven forward by greater connectivity and increasing sophistication of systems, devices and management tools, and is now maturing as a mainstream IT delivery option for companies looking for more immediate and location-sensitive reach. The Edge Data Center Project of the Year award category recognizes projects that demonstrate a unique and strategic approach to how successful edge deployment is designed, set up, and operated, and shows how edge creates opportunities for delivering on IT and business objectives.

Northern Marine’s fleet of vessels rely on a host of critical applications — if their onboard internet is intermittent, their navigation will fail, making it impossible for a ship’s navigator to chart its course. Northern Marine’s business leaders wanted to upgrade existing deployed IT infrastructure onboard their vessels, address intermittent internet connectivity (including satellite connectivity and latency), ensure servers remain online and operational with minimal downtime, reduce exposure to expensive en-route repairs, and comply with regulatory requirements, all while dealing with limited onboard IT personnel. Northern Marine deployed Scale Computing SC//HyperCore clusters to run their operations smoothly while at sea and realized immediate benefits from enhanced performance and simplified management.

“With today’s complex IT infrastructure environments, it's increasingly important that edge computing be able to support applications anytime, anywhere,” said Jeff Ready, CEO and Co-founder of Scale Computing. “Edge computing plays a critical role across any industry’s IT innovation and digital transformation strategy, and in this case, Scale Computing enabled Northern Marine to run their critical onboard IT applications with self-healing, automated infrastructure. We’re thrilled to be named a finalist in the DCD>Awards for our work with Northern Marine, who successfully deployed our innovative edge computing and hyperconverged solutions.”

Scale Computing Platform brings simplicity, high availability, and scalability together, replacing existing infrastructure and running applications in a single, easy-to-manage platform. SC//HyperCore saves time and valuable resources because the software, servers, and storage are all in one fully integrated platform. The same innovative software and simple user interface power a user’s infrastructure, regardless of their hardware configuration. Using patented HyperCore™ technology, the award-winning, self-healing platform identifies, reduces, and corrects problems in real-time.

The DCD>Awards announcement comes on the heels of other recent industry recognition, including:

  • SC//Fleet Manager named a winner for the 2022 CRN Tech Innovator Awards in the Edge Computing category.
  • Scale Computing named on CRN’s 2022 Edge Computing 100 list.
  • Scale Computing was named a winner in both the Edge Computing category and the Converged/ HyperConverged Infrastructure category of the 2022 CRN Annual Report Card (ARC) Awards. This is their fourth consecutive year being recognized as a CRN ARC Award winner.
  • Scale Computing Recognized as a Gartner® Peer Insights™ Customers’ Choice Vendor for Hyperconverged Infrastructure Software for second consecutive year.
  • Scale Computing named on CRN’s 2022 Software-Defined Data Center 50 list.
  • Scale Computing received a 5-Star rating in CRN’s 2022 Partner Program Guide.
  • Scale Computing named on CRN’s MES Matters list.

The DCD>Awards recognizes the most outstanding projects, people and teams across 11 categories. An independent panel of judges reviewed hundreds of entries submitted from 23 different countries across 6 continents. Winners will be announced on December 7 at the 16th annual awards ceremony in London and broadcast live worldwide.
