Five Companies Offering Application Development and Deployment Solutions for the Platform as a Service (PaaS) Market Named IDC Innovators

NEEDHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--International Data Corporation (IDC) today published an IDC Innovators report profiling five technology vendors in the cloud platform-as-a-service (PaaS) technologies market that developers are using to accelerate their application development and deployment processes. The five companies are: Vercel, Zenity, Netlify, Severalnines, and Render.

Developers use cloud platform-as-a-service (PaaS) technologies to make the applications that define the digital-first world. Yet when it comes to creating and delivering these applications, developers and their organizations face a myriad of challenges including integration, security, data management, and ease of application deployment. Developers looking to overcome these challenges often adopt open-source technologies and/or solutions from start-ups that seek to abstract the complexity of developing and operating applications in the cloud.

"In the digital-first world, companies that are serious about competing for the long term use the lens of business outcomes to evaluate strategic technology decisions, which drives the fast-growing ecosystem seen in the PaaS market. Each of the vendors profiled in this IDC Innovators document contributes to making developers more productive and helps businesses differentiate themselves by providing better experiences to end users," said Lara Greden, research director, Platform as a Service. "Some major cloud platform service providers may have similar offerings or approaches to the vendors we identified, but a clear point of differentiation is that the identified vendors allow for multicloud and/or cloud-agnostic deployments, thereby simplifying the ability for customers to deliver on digital innovation strategies while empowering developers."

The report, IDC Innovators: Cloud Platform-as-a-Service/PaaS Technologies, 2022 (Doc #US49790022), profiles five vendors in the cloud platform-as-a-service (PaaS) technologies market whose solutions accelerate value for developers and their organizations. The five companies are as follows:

Vercel is a web applications platform that combines back-end and front-end capabilities to help customers create complex web applications that meet stringent demands for speed and scalability.

Zenity offers a holistic security governance solution for centralized control over governance policies, security risk detection, and mitigation responses for low-code and no-code apps, automations, and integrations.

Netlify enables developers to connect the tools they need for modern web development into a unified workflow, thereby improving productivity and the ability to go live, get feedback, and make changes faster.

Severalnines solves critical technical issues for customers who manage multiple databases, enabling them to choose the hosting option that best serves their needs for cost, security, configuration, and data sovereignty.

Render solves the problem for developers and their organizations of having to navigate complex cloud infrastructure environments and/or need highly skilled DevOps talent to achieve efficient cloud deployments.

About IDC Innovators
IDC Innovators reports present a set of vendors – under $100 million in revenue at time of selection – chosen by an IDC analyst within a specific market that offer an innovative new technology, a groundbreaking approach to an existing issue, and/or an interesting new business model. It is not an exhaustive evaluation of all companies in a segment or a comparative ranking of the companies. Vendors in the process of being acquired by a larger company may be included in the report provided the acquisition is not finalized at the time of publication of the report. Vendors funded by venture capital firms may also be included in the report even if the venture capital firm has a financial stake in the vendor's company.
