Home Bank and FHLB Dallas Awards Grant to a Youth Workforce Development Nonprofit

FHLB Dallas’ Partnership Grant Program Provides 3:1 Match of Members’ Donations

BATON ROUGE, La.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Home Bank and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) recently awarded $8,000 Partnership Grant Program (PGP) funding to Front Yard Bikes, a nonprofit youth workforce development program for students that provides a bike mechanic course, gardening lessons, cooking classes and a welding program. The funds were awarded during a ceremonial check presentation.

Awarded annually through FHLB Dallas’ member institutions, Partnership Grant Program (PGP) funds help promote and strengthen relationships between CBOs and FHLB Dallas members. FHLB Dallas matches member contributions of $500 to $4,000 at a 3:1 ratio.

“Home Bank is thrilled to be able to support this organization that lifts up children and gives them real world skills,” said Kelvin Luster, community development director at Home Bank. “We are incredibly honored to support Front Yard Bikes alongside FHLB Dallas, which has allowed our investment to go further.”

Front Yard Bikes plans to use their PGP award to provide a stipend to three students hired through their competitive internship program. Students become eligible for an internship after building a complete bicycle, completing at least 30 volunteer hours while being in good academic standing at school. As interns, the students will work two days a week and receive professional development training. The organization recently received a national televised feature for their unique and effective contributions to Baton Rouge students.

Front Yard Banks is one of seven local nonprofit organizations that Home Bank is supporting with PGP funding this year. Together, Home Bank and FHLB Dallas contributed more than $67,000 in PGP funds to seven CBOs across Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.

“Home Bank pours its resources into communities,” said Greg Hettrick, first vice president and director of Community Investment at FHLB Dallas. “Providing young people with vocational training outside of school is incredibly important. It is an honor to partner with a financial institution that shows this level of commitment to caring for their community.”
