JAVER Drives Sustainable Housing Development and Obtains IFC EDGE Certification

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--JAVER, a leading housing developer in Mexico, has a long track record of commitment to adopting best Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices for the benefit of the communities where its housing projects are located.

As a reflection of the above, JAVER has been recognized as a Socially Responsible Company for five years in a row, since 2018 it has climbed 31 positions to reach 35th place in the Great Place to Work ranking in the category of 500 to 3,000 employees, on top of implementing diverse environmental and social programs aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs).

Thus, for the purpose of further promoting the integral well-being of communities, JAVER stepped up its sustainability efforts by obtaining EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) certification for 294 homes in the Muriel Residencial project, which is in the metropolitan area of Monterrey, Nuevo León. This certification, established by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, evaluates the energy and water efficiency and energy savings embodied in the materials used for the construction of the homes.

This means that each of the Muriel Residencial housing prototypes, Aura Plus and Aura Elite, can save at least 30% in water and electricity consumption, which was possible thanks to the use of efficient materials and the application of eco-technology, such as hollow-core slabs, waterproofing, efficient boilers, toilets, showers and energy-saving faucets in bathrooms and kitchens.

It is worth noting that, apart from the environmental benefits of developing sustainable housing, according to studies conducted by the IFC, an EDGE-certified home can achieve a capital gain of approximately 15% and a higher occupancy rate if the house is rented; not to mention the lower impact on families' finances thanks to the energy and water savings that this type of housing provides.

The housing project has 3-bedroom homes with excellent layout, luxury finishes and amenities for all members of the family. It is located in Escobedo, Nuevo León, with 39% of the homes already sold.
