Ryder CMO Karen Jones Receives Women in Supply Chain Award from Supply & Demand Chain Executive

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a leader in supply chain, dedicated transportation, and fleet management solutions, announces that Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine selects Karen Jones, EVP, CMO, and head of new product development for Ryder, as a recipient of the 2022 Women in Supply Chain award. The 3rd annual award honors female supply chain leaders whose accomplishments, mentorship, and examples set a foundation for women in all levels of a company’s supply chain network.

“Diversity is key to everything we do at Ryder, because when you embrace diversity, you bring to the table different backgrounds, educations, experiences, and ways of looking at challenges,” says Jones. “In turn, that brings about new ideas and unique ways of doing things and solving problems, and that is priceless.”

Jones was recognized, in part, for being the genesis behind RyderShareTM, a one-of-a-kind visibility, collaboration, and exception management technology that enables everyone involved in moving goods through supply chains to work together in real-time to prevent costly delays and find efficiency gains. Jones also spearheaded the development of COOP by Ryder®, the largest commercial truck- and trailer-sharing platform, and RyderVentures, a $50 million corporate venture capital fund focused on start-ups tackling supply chain disruptions.

“If you are really good at what you do, and you know how to build relationships, things like gender matter a lot less,” adds Jones. “People want to work with people who are confident, collaborative, and good at what they do.”

This year, Supply & Demand Chain Executive received more than 280 submissions for female leaders from transportation and logistics firms, software and service providers, consultancies and academia, professional development agencies, sourcing and procurement divisions, and more — all who have helped supply chain customers prepare to meet many of today’s and tomorrow’s challenges.

“When I launched this award three years ago, I was prepared for an uphill battle. I was envisioning a long road ahead in getting the supply chain industry educated enough as to why it was important to recognize women in the supply chain. But, this award, the winners and those who submitted nominations — both men and women — is a testament that supply chain organizations were already recognizing their female leaders; they just needed a better platform,” says Marina Mayer, editor-in-chief of Supply & Demand Chain Executive and Food Logistics. “I’m proud to call these women mentors, role models and industry friends. And, I hope to see all of this year’s and past years’ winners at our upcoming Women in Supply Chain Forum.”
