3STEP Sports Acquires Patriot Lacrosse Club

Elite New Jersey-Based Club is Latest Addition to Lacrosse Division

ANDOVER, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--3STEP Sports, the nation’s largest and most impactful youth sports club and event operator, has acquired Patriot Lacrosse Club, adding another elite youth training and development organization to its lacrosse division.

Patriot Lacrosse was founded in 1998 by Chuck and Donna Ruebling with a handful of instructional camps and clinics. The Rueblings wanted to focus on creating an individualized experience geared to player development on and off the field. In 2001, Patriot formed six teams and over the years it has grown to 14 teams.

The program is built around a set of core values that include:

  • Leadership driven by fair play and sportsmanship.
  • Inclusive player development.
  • A commitment to the education of coaches, players and parents.
  • Promoting a fun, safe, inclusive and healthy environment.

Chuck Ruebling is a legend in high school lacrosse. He was the boys’ varsity coach at the Delbarton School in Morristown, N.J., from 1986-2017. During his 31-year tenure, Ruebling won 523 games and led Delbarton to 15 state championships. A member of several lacrosse Halls of Fame, Ruebling was also the coach of the U-19 Team USA team that won a world championship in 2016. After stepping down as the Delbarton varsity coach, Ruebling now coaches the freshman team and is also the school’s Assistant Headmaster for Student Affairs.

“Our directive to the coaches in our program has always been to treat every player as if they were their own,” said Ruebling. “Sometimes that’s tough love, other times it’s lifting them up. We’ve always tried to keep the quality of our program at a high level from top to bottom and that is what has made us successful.”

The 3STEP reach spans 43 states and serves more than 3.2 million athletes across nine sports through industry-leading events, nationally spanning club programs, premier media content and more. 3STEP was founded by David Geaslen, who sought to create better experiences and more opportunities for athletes and their families. The mission of 3STEP is to be the standard of the youth sports experience and create consistency in the industry. 3STEP also operates the non-profit charity Mission Win, which aims to transform the lives of children through sports participation, leadership training and professional development.

“Chuck Ruebling is one of the most iconic coaches in the country and Patriot Lacrosse embodies excellence,” said Geaslen. “Their personalized approach to every player and commitment to doing things the right way is something we admire and strive to emulate. We are very excited to welcome them into our family.”
