For the Community: Active Aging Week

UHSM promotes active aging with the Pre-Retirement Community

NORFOLK, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Unite Health Share Ministries™ (UHSM), a nonprofit, faith-based health sharing ministry supporting a community of Christian Believers through member-to-member health care sharing, is proud to celebrate Active Aging Week from October 3 – 9, 2022. During the week, UHSM will encourage and promote mind, body and spiritual health to the pre-retirement community, continuing through the end of the year.

Initiated in 2003 by the International Council on Active Aging, this week-long campaign calls attention to and celebrates the positivity of aging in today’s society. It aims to challenge society’s thoughts on aging by sharing examples of how it’s possible to live happier and healthier in all areas of life. While improving diet, staying physically active and regularly visiting the doctor can help a person age well, research has found that older adults with positive perceptions of aging lived an average of 7.5 years longer than those with less favorable views on aging.

“UHSM believes learning to create and maintain healthy habits as your body ages is a lifelong journey and important to begin at any age,” said Christopher Jin, UHSM president. “Practicing good nutrition habits, incorporating physical activity in your daily routine, getting regular check-ups and scheduling social activities are important parts of healthy living for all ages.”

UHSM health share programs are the perfect transition between health care plans for individuals ages 65 and older looking for affordable health care options. Membership perks include access to digital subscriptions that promote and facilitate active aging, including Noom – dedicated to physical, mental and emotional well-being; Pray.com – helping incorporate daily prayer and stronger faith; and Fitbod – providing personalized workouts. Members also have access to the nation’s largest independent PCHS™ PPO network, CVS™ MinuteClinic and DocDay Telehealth services, making it easier to schedule annual wellness exams. If interested in partnering or connecting with UHSM or learning more about how UHSM shares with the great community of Christian Believers, please contact www.marketing@uhsm.org.
