IU’s 1968 Rose Bowl team creates challenge to raise funds for Hoosiers For Good to further its mission to raise awareness for Indiana charities

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--()--The 1968 Indiana University football team, the only team in IU’s history to play in the Rose Bowl, announced their commitment to raise funds for Hoosiers For Good by way of a challenge aimed at other alumni teams of IU Football.

The challenge for the IU football teams, which runs through July 2023, is for each former team to compete to raise the most amount of funds for Hoosiers For Good through tax deductible donations. Hoosiers For Good is a 501(c)(3) organization that contracts with IU student athletes to use their NIL to amplify the philanthropic work of Indiana charities. To encourage IU football alumni participation, the funds raised through this challenge will be used to support Hoosiers For Good partner charities through NIL agreements with IU Football athletes who enter into NIL agreements with Hoosiers For Good.

The 1968 Rose Bowl team already fully funds eight named IU football scholarships, and on the 55th anniversary of their Big 10 Championship, leaders of the 1968 team Doug Crusan and EG White kicked off their new challenge by each making a donation to Hoosiers For Good.

Since its launch in March, Hoosiers For Good has announced partnerships with 25 student athletes including IU football players Tiawan Mullen, D.J. Matthews Jr., Shaun Shivers, AJ Barner, Matthew Bedford, and Jack Tuttle. Under agreements with Hoosiers For Good, student athletes, among other responsibilities, provide a variety of NIL services to their paired charities including a number of in-person appearances as well as social media posts promoting these appearances and their charity.

As a part of their agreement with the Indiana Region of the American Red Cross, Bedford and Tuttle filmed two public service announcements to raise awareness for the organization’s upcoming blood drives and the importance of donating blood. The athletes will also be in attendance at the open house of the new Bloomington office next week.

To join the challenge, IU football alumni should contact Tyler Harris, Executive Director of Hoosiers For Good at tyler.harris@hoosiersforgood.org.
