CMTC Delivers Training to Clean Beauty Product Manufacturer to Help Improve Operations & Reduce Costs

TORRANCE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--California Manufacturing Technology Consulting® (CMTC) recently provided Lean Manufacturing Training and Leadership Training to Innovative Cosmetic Labs to help the company improve its operations and reduce costs.

Innovative Cosmetic Labs (ICL) began in 2008 as the manufacturer for one of the most recognized brands in the natural products industry. Specializing in premium formulations and niche skincare segments such as serums, oils, mists, and creams, ICL creates value for brands of all sizes by providing solutions in clean beauty formulations, packaging, procurement, fulfillment, and marketing. Innovative Cosmetic Labs is proud to employ a diverse workforce and support leadership opportunities for women and minorities.

During the pandemic, ICL experienced some reductions in demand but was able to successfully pivot to supplying hand sanitizers. Company leaders reached out to CMTC with a request for assistance in understanding and implementing Lean Manufacturing and leadership skills in order to improve operations and increase cost efficiencies.

CMTC worked with ICL employees to develop skills for a continuous improvement culture throughout the organization and to train key personnel on Lean principles and tools to help them understand and implement sustainable improvements. CMTC provided consulting, technical support, and account management services both virtually and on site at Innovative Cosmetic Labs’ Chatsworth facility. Key outcomes included: identification of areas for improvement, recommendations on layout and storage, and training and empowering of staff.

Following the training and consulting provided by CMTC, ICL reported $100,000 in new sales generated, as well as cost reductions of $6,000. Company leaders anticipate that Lean Manufacturing and Leadership Training will allow ICL to add two new jobs and retain 12 employees over the next 12 months.
