Revolent Invites Nominations for the Diversity and Inclusion Employer of the Year Award

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The cloud talent creation expert Revolent is sponsoring the Diversity and Inclusion Employer of the Year Award at Digital Revolution Awards 2023, for the third year running, and has just released a call for submissions of nominations.

Now in their third year, the Digital Revolution Awards recognize and celebrate excellence across the cloud sector. The Diversity and Inclusion Employer of the Year Award is designed to celebrate those who are making a real and tangible impact on fostering inclusivity, championing equality, and promoting diversity in their organization, which operates within the cloud sector.

Despite research suggesting that more ethnically diverse teams outperform their less diverse peers financially by more than a third, the tech sector is still seeing a huge imbalance in terms of gender parity and ethnic diversity. For instance, approximately half of the UK’s workforce are women, but this figure drops to just 20% when it comes to tech roles. What’s more, in the US, only 17% of tech leadership positions are held by ethnic minorities, dropping to 2.6% in the UK. In addition, although there has been a rise in hybrid and remote work since the onset of the pandemic, the tech sector is also failing to attract more workers with disabilities, accessibility needs or neurodiverse individuals.

“Simply put, there isn’t enough diversity in tech which is filtering through to the cloud, the fastest-growing arm of tech,” says Nabila Salem, President of Revolent, who was the winner of Globant’s Women that Build Inspiring Executive Award in 2021 for her efforts in promoting diversity in tech, promoting female role models, and building gender-diverse management teams. “But in order to innovate and catch up with the fast-changing market demands, you need the fresh ideas and perspectives that only people from diverse backgrounds can bring to your team. By sponsoring the Diversity and Inclusion Employer of the Year Award, we want to reward the pioneers and champions of diversity in the cloud while inspiring others to follow suit.”

This is the third year that Revolent is sponsoring this category at the Digital Revolution Awards, having themselves been recognized as the Diversity Employer of the Year at Computing Women in Tech Excellence Awards two years running. The shortlist for this and 18 other award categories will be announced early next year, with winners selected by an independent panel of judges made up of cloud experts and revealed at a series of regional ceremonies and fundraisers across Germany, the UK, and US during April and May, and at a virtual global awards ceremony on Friday, 2 June 2023.

Past winners of the Diversity and Inclusion Employer of the Year Award include Merkle and American Express for their exceptional work in fostering diversity of thought and taking radical action to make their organizations truly inclusive.

“This is an opportunity for us to give back to the cloud ecosystem, showcase all the great work that others are doing to promote diversity and, hopefully, inspire each other to do even more,” Salem adds.

The nominations for this and other award categories will remain open until 31 October 2022. Applications are welcome from any geographical region, and nominees should be able to demonstrate the impact of their policies and initiatives, and showcase ways in which they are supporting access to opportunities in the cloud space for all.
