Marybeth Sharpe Named Chief Administrative Officer at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation appointed Marybeth Sharpe as chief administrative officer. In this role, Sharpe will lead the communications, facilities, finance, grants administration, human resources, and information technology functions for the $9 billion private foundation.

Sharpe previously spent 11 years at the Moore Foundation leading strategic grantmaking designed to support nurses in improving the experience and outcomes of patient care and nursing education. After leaving the foundation in 2016, Marybeth became the chief operating officer and chief strategy and partnerships officer at the Purchaser Business Group on Health.

At Purchaser Business Group on Health, Marybeth directed strategy development and execution, led the operations team, oversaw all operational and business functions, stewarded the financial health of the organization, and led talent management. Marybeth managed the launch of new programs, products and ventures, and created solutions to support employers in evaluating, selecting and maximizing the performance of health care and well-being start-ups and other innovators.

Prior to joining the Moore Foundation in 2004, Marybeth was an associate principal at McKinsey & Company, where she focused on strategy, M&A and operations for media, financial and not-for-profit organizations. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago and a B.A. in economics from the College of William and Mary.

Sharpe assumes her post September 19, 2022, and reports directly to Dr. Fineberg.
