Three Companies Offering Edge Technologies for Digital-First Operations Named IDC Innovators

NEEDHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--International Data Corporation (IDC) today published an IDC Innovators report profiling three vendors offering solutions to streamline edge deployments and data collection at the edge. The three companies are: Elisity, IoTech, and Losant.

Digital-first organizations are increasingly utilizing data-collecting infrastructure that resides in locations at "the edge" or outside the IT core that supports all key business decision support systems. When deploying IT at the edge, organizations are confronted with new challenges, such as physically deploying, managing, and securing infrastructure that resides outside of a datacenter. Another challenge is extracting data from and connecting operational technologies (OTs) with IT resources for analysis. Data collection at the edge can require high-performance compute and low- or zero-latency connections that enable edge devices to communicate directly with the core or with another edge device.

Edge IT solutions help organizations to establish digital-first operations, anywhere. Each of the vendors profiled in this IDC Innovators report provides a solution to streamline edge deployments with the end goal of providing an easier path to extract value from data that resides at the edge.

"Organizations are working across a diverse landscape of technologies and protocols to support digital-first businesses and operations. Deploying and operating edge infrastructure at scale is a heavy lift for most organizations. The vendors profiled in this IDC Innovators research are acutely aware of the challenges organizations face, and have developed technologies to make edge data collection easier and more secure," said Jennifer Cooke, research director, Edge Strategies at IDC.

The report, IDC Innovators: Edge Technologies for Digital-First Operations, 2022 (IDC #US46021820), profiles three companies that offer edge technologies for digital-first operations. The three companies are:

Elisity tackles endpoint security in an agentless way, making it easier for manufacturing, healthcare, and other industries to connect large numbers of OT equipment to networks quickly and securely.

IoTech offers a toolset that makes it possible for people without extensive knowledge of diverse protocols and platforms to develop and manage applications and extract value from data at the edge.

Losant offers a low-code environment that equipment manufacturers and organizations can use to tap into data sources from digitally disconnected equipment or things.

About IDC Innovators
IDC Innovators reports present a set of vendors – under $100 million in revenue at time of selection – chosen by an IDC analyst within a specific market that offer an innovative new technology, a groundbreaking approach to an existing issue, and/or an interesting new business model. It is not an exhaustive evaluation of all companies in a segment or a comparative ranking of the companies. Vendors in the process of being acquired by a larger company may be included in the report provided the acquisition is not finalized at the time of publication of the report. Vendors funded by venture capital firms may also be included in the report even if the venture capital firm has a financial stake in the vendor's company.
