MedImpact Receives Three-Year NCQA Reaccreditation

Reaffirms commitment to high quality standards and rigorous process assessment in Utilization Management

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MedImpact, the independent pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) and health solutions company that puts clients and consumers first, announced today that it has been awarded a three-year reaccreditation in Utilization Management by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). NCQA’s mission is to improve the quality of health care.

MedImpact was awarded the three-year accreditation by NCQA in Utilization Management following a rigorous assessment of its systems, processes, and personnel in utilization management to ensure NCQA’s high standards are met. This achievement marks MedImpact’s third consecutive successful NCQA accreditation in Utilization Management.

“For over 30 years, MedImpact has helped ensure members receive the services and prescriptions they need for better health, while reducing the risks and costs associated with over-utilizing resources. NCQA accreditation is the gold standard for quality in healthcare, and we are pleased to be recognized for our clinical excellence, unrelenting commitment to members, and track record of continuous improvement.”

- Denise Burns, Chief Operations Officer, MedImpact

As an independent nonprofit, NCQA works to improve the quality of healthcare and conducts voluntary, objective, and evidence-based evaluations. NCQA accreditation is critical for PBM partnerships with health plans, managed care organizations, and accountable care organizations.

“Achieving NCQA Utilization Management Accreditation demonstrates that MedImpact has the systems, process and personnel in place to conduct utilization management in accordance with the strictest quality standards,” stated Margaret E. O’Kane, President, NCQA.

Since its inception, MedImpact has invested heavily in building a world-class clinical team, leading the way in innovation, and providing high touch member services. This approach delivers forward-thinking utilization management, high-touch member engagement programs, and low year-over-year cost trend. Today, MedImpact is the largest independent PBM, serving many of the nation’s most recognizable health plans and self-insured employers, and more than 55 million consumers globally.

“This commitment to quality and continuous quality improvement highlights MedImpact’s dedication to providing excellence in PBM services that support our clients’ success in delivering high value to their members. Along with our URAC PBM Accreditation, this NCQA Utilization Management Accreditation reaffirms our commitment to quality and distinguishes MedImpact with accreditations from two national industry leaders in health care,” said Burns. “For our clients, it means providing service excellence by helping to ensure that prescription benefits are consistently and accurately administered. For members, it means helping to ensure that they receive timely approval of clinically appropriate and necessary medications.”
