Optime Care Collaborates with National Association of Specialty Pharmacy, Develops Podcast on Patient Journey Across Specialty Pharmacy & Healthcare

EARTH CITY, Mo.--()--Optime Care, a nationally recognized specialty pharmacy, distribution and patient management organization maximizing therapeutic opportunities for the treatment of orphan and rare disorders, is pleased to announce that in collaboration with the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP), providers of networking, continuing education, pharmacist certifications and public policy advocacy for specialty pharmacy, Optime Care will develop and distribute a podcast with the Pharmacy Podcast Network. The series focuses on the patient journey mapping experience across the Specialty Pharmacy (SP) and healthcare spectrum, addressing internal and external factors that impact SP channel and services to the patient. This will include discussion moderated, by Michael Baldzicki, executive vice president of Growth & Strategy at AscellaHealth, about product criteria, price, site of care, clinical management, health plan design, complexity of administration, specialty handling, and overall patient compliance and engagement.

“Given today’s key SP trends, this podcast series could not be timelier or more impactful for patients, payers, life sciences and providers,” says Michelle Hefley, co-founder, managing partner and chairman, Optime Care. “The Specialty patient journey is complex and full of challenges, including rising costs of specialty agents and the emergence of ultra-high-cost specialty agents and cell/gene therapies for rare and orphan diseases. This demands more focused management of the high-cost specialty drug patients to ensure compliance and optimize outcomes. By talking to industry leaders, we will shed light on the best approach for enhancing quality of life for patients from the moment of diagnosis across the entire patient journey.”

Specific topics will include:

  • Understanding Patient Care Coordination Across the Healthcare Spectrum
  • Optimizing Specialty Pharmacy Health Outcomes
  • Navigating the Patient Journey in Specialty Pharmacy -- from evaluation through treatment
  • How to Improve the Patient Experience and Why it Matters

“This collaborative initiative with NASP further underscores our dedication to providing education, insights and information for SP stakeholders,” Hefley adds. “It is also an opportunity to demonstrate the value of Optime Care capabilities, which span the entire product life cycle and prescription process. Our patient-first approach is streamlining communications between prescriber, patient and pharmacy to eliminate barriers, decrease time-to-fill, enhance the patient journey and optimize outcomes.”

The podcast series will feature four episodes, with the final episode recorded LIVE at the NASP 2022 Annual Meeting & Expo - Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center, Orlando, Florida, Sept. 19-22, 2022.
