HR Tech Group becomes Tech and People Network (TAP Network)

New name as part of extensive rebranding initiative

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HR Tech Group, a community of People and Culture professionals committed to driving growth and success of Canada’s tech sector, announced a re-branding today. In response to a growing and evolving community and a renewed organizational vision, the association has changed its name to Tech and People Network (TAP Network).

Over the past three years, the association has experienced 70% growth in membership and expanded from a BC-based community to one with services and membership in multiple Canadian provinces.

2022 marks the association’s 30th anniversary. It began in 1992, when eight senior practitioners in BC’s tech sector collaborated on a salary survey and created the Compensation Exchange Group. Today, TAP Network provides 750+ members with access to tech sector data, mentors, resources, industry experts and an inclusive peer community.

“We’re making this change because our community is evolving and so are we. Along with the majority of Canadian tech companies, we’re moving away from the term human resources,” said Stephanie Hollingshead, CEO TAP Network. “Our community is becoming a national one, and that’s exciting for us. We experienced tremendous growth in 2021 with companies joining from multiple provinces and with expanding support and reach across Canada, we believe this is the right time to rebrand. As a network of People and Culture professionals in tech, we wanted a name that showcases that network.”

TAP Network’s 2022 expansion plans include launching an Eastern Edition of Tech Talent North, Canada’s Conference for People and Culture in Tech, in partnership with Cube Business Media, Producer of Tech Talent North, SAAS NORTH and other events. Tech Talent North: Western Edition will take place this spring in Vancouver, BC and Tech Talent North: Eastern Edition will take place this fall in Toronto, ON. TAP Network’s Diversity in Tech Dashboard Report and its annual Tech Salary Survey, which has provided critical industry data for over 25 years, are also expanding nationally in 2022.
