Online and on-demand training to dominate in 2022

With demand soaring for online learning, employers must maintain security and credibility of digital models

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Online-first learning and assessment models are now expected by employees and will become the norm in 2022, according to Questionmark, the leading online assessment provider. However, businesses and certification providers must maintain the security and credibility of their courses and qualifications if they are to take advantage of the change.

The prediction follows research that indicates a preference for learning online and on-demand. Google Trends shows searches for “learning on-demand” and “learning subscription” both growing globally over the past decade. 1

In what has been described as a “Netflix moment” for the world of education,2 the wholesale shift to online-first and hybrid learning and assessment models looks increasingly permanent. This raises the need for assessments and credentials to be as secure and trustworthy as traditional methods. According to Questionmark, this can only be delivered using digital assessment platforms that come with tools such as ready-made content libraries, trustworthy digital badging and proctoring solutions that balance the need for individual data privacy and the highest standards of security.

John Kleeman, Founder of Questionmark, said: “The shift to online working and learning during the pandemic has come with certain advantages to both learners and training providers, such as greater access to courses and material, and increased flexibility. As the pandemic continues to breed uncertainty, we expect to see online-first to continue into 2022 and beyond. It reinforces the need for investment in platforms and services that will facilitate digital learning without harming trust and security.”

Questionmark has developed papers to support businesses with this transition.
