Synovus Names Liz Wolverton Head of Consumer Banking and Brand Experience

Susan Pitts to Serve as Consumer COO

COLUMBUS, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Synovus Bank today announced the naming of Liz Wolverton as head of consumer banking and brand experience. In her expanded role leading this new banking segment, Wolverton maintains oversight for the company’s marketing, digital, analytics, and customer experience functions while also assuming responsibility for the branch network, consumer banking products and services, and mass affluent strategy and execution.

“As the future of retail banking is rapidly changing across our industry, marked by reduced numbers of branches, declining transactions, higher digital utilization, increased competition, and revenue disintermediation, Liz’s background in corporate strategy, digital channel development, marketing, and customer experience are valuable in leading the development of our competitive, go-forward roadmap,” said Synovus President and CEO Kevin Blair.

Wolverton has served as the company’s chief strategy and customer experience officer since 2018. After joining Synovus in 2003, she has held roles in accounting and financial analysis and was promoted to senior director of banking in 2011. She has been named one of American Banker’s 25 Women to Watch each year since 2015.

Synovus also announced the naming of Susan Pitts as chief operating officer for the new consumer banking segment. Pitts is currently a retail banking executive. In her expanded role, she will lead all aspects of retail network and sales delivery, overseeing consumer and small business client relationship growth. Pitts is a 36-year veteran of Synovus’ retail banking line of business, serving in various roles from front line to retail lending and, most recently, leading retail network operations.

Synovus Bank, a Georgia-chartered, FDIC-insured bank, provides commercial and retail banking and a full suite of specialized products and services, including private banking, treasury management, wealth management, mortgage services, premium finance, asset-based lending, structured lending, and international banking through 283 branches in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee.
