CSA Security Trust Assurance and Risk (STAR) Registry Reaches Notable Landmark with 1,500 Entries

Significant milestone further validates value and relevance of program

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), the world’s leading organization dedicated to defining standards, certifications, and best practices to help ensure a secure cloud computing environment, today announced that its Security Trust Assurance and Risk (STAR) Registry, a publicly accessible listing which documents the security and privacy controls provided by popular cloud computing offerings, has reached another significant milestone wherein 1,500 cloud services have been evaluated according to the principles of CSA’s STAR Program and the requirements of the Cloud Control Matrix (CCM).

“CSA STAR is the world’s largest and most consequential cloud provider security program and we are extremely proud to have reached this milestone just 10 years after it launched. Today, CSA STAR represents a comprehensive ecosystem of cloud security standards, auditor training, a public repository of over 1,500 provider entries, and a third-party network of the industry’s leading auditors and certification bodies,” said Jim Reavis, co-founder and CEO, Cloud Security Alliance.

STAR encompasses the key principles of transparency, rigorous auditing, and harmonization of standards outlined in the Cloud Controls Matrix (CCM). Publishing to the registry allows organizations to show current and potential customers their security and compliance posture, including the regulations, standards, and frameworks they adhere to. It ultimately reduces complexity and helps alleviate the need to fill out multiple customer questionnaires.

“The STAR Registry has fast become a mandate for enterprise users as part of their third-party risk management program. With this achievement, the value and relevance of the STAR Program has been further validated,” said Daniele Catteddu, Chief Technology Officer, Cloud Security Alliance.
