Exile Content Studio’s Club Mundo Kids and UNICEF Partner to Celebrate World Children’s Day With Optimistic New Song About Education as Classroom Closures Continue for Children in Latin America and the Caribbean

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As World Children’s Day approaches on 20 November, COVID-19 school closures continue to affect an estimated 71 million children in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to UNICEF.

While most countries in the region have started to gradually reopen schools, many classrooms remain empty. In at least five countries where just a small number of schools have reopened, less than 25 per cent of students have resumed in-person learning.

To help build excitement for the return to the classroom, Club Mundo Kids, the Spanish-language educational children’s series from Exile Content Studio, is partnering with UNICEF on a new song that celebrates schools as a safe space for children to grow and learn. The Spanish-language tune, entitled “Mi Escuela, Mi Hogar,” (“My School, My Home”) was written and produced by award-winning composer Nacho González Nappa.

The song, and its accompanying music video, can be streamed on Club Mundo Kids’ YouTube channel. Additionally, Club Mundo Kids is collaborating with YouTube Kids where Mi Escuela, Mi Hogar and other musical content from the organization will be highlighted on the video app and website for two weeks, beginning Nov.18 through Dec. 2, as the three organizations align on delivering strong educational content to children around the world.

“Imagining schools once again as a magical and safe haven for children to learn and explore was where we drew our inspiration for the song Mi Escuela, Mi Hogar,” said Alejandro Uribe, CEO of Exile Content Studio. “With the help and support of UNICEF, we hope that Club Mundo Kids will inspire all children with its optimistic message that there will be better days ahead in the near future.”

“This World Children’s Day, far too many children in Latin America and the Caribbean are still out of the classroom,” said Italo Dutra, UNICEF’s Regional Education Advisor for Latin America and the Caribbean. “In many countries across the region, the school year ends in December. Children are now facing almost two years of lost time with teachers and classmates, jeopardizing their right to learn. While schools stay closed, the future of the region’s children, especially the most vulnerable, is at stake.”

UNICEF is working with education authorities to ensure all children return to schools, where they can access services to catch up on lost learning and support their psychosocial well-being.

“Music helps us heal and navigate challenging moments. Latin America and the Caribbean is a region full of resilience, and we hope this song sheds some light to overcome this dramatic situation,” said Nacho González Nappa, composer of “My School, My Home.”
