Astera Labs Nominated as Finalist for GSA’s 2021 ‘Start-Up to Watch’ Award

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--()--Astera Labs, a pioneer in purpose-built connectivity solutions for intelligent systems, today announced that it has been nominated by the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) as a finalist for their 2021 ‘Start-Up to Watch’ award. Each year, GSA’s Private Awards Committee nominates the most promising semiconductor companies that have demonstrated unparalleled excellence through their vision, innovation and execution in addressing a future market opportunity.

“We are delighted to be selected as a finalist for this prestigious GSA award,” said Jitendra Mohan, CEO and co-founder of Astera Labs. “Our nomination for this award is a testament to Astera Labs’ innovation and progress in addressing the performance bottlenecks in data-intensive systems that are limiting the true potential of applications such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.”

Since the company’s founding in 2018, Astera Labs has designed, developed and launched a broad portfolio of purpose-built connectivity solutions in record time based on standard protocols such as PCI Express® (PCIe®) and Compute Express Link™ (CXL™). Astera Labs shortened its chip development design cycle, raised productivity and reduced costs by adopting a 100 percent cloud-based design approach — an industry-first for a private company developing complex SoC products. The company’s portfolio of products empower system designers to implement complex topologies for heterogeneous computing and composable disaggregation in data-centric applications while improving resource availability, bandwidth, and overall system performance.

“The GSA congratulates Astera Labs on being nominated as a finalist for the 2021 ‘Start-Up to Watch’ award,” said Jodi Shelton, GSA CEO and co-founder. “Astera was selected for demonstrating vision and innovative application of its technology for overcoming barriers to realizing the benefits of artificial intelligence and machine learning in the cloud.”

GSA’s Private Awards Committee is comprised of venture capitalists and serial entrepreneurs in the industry. The committee selects nominees for the ‘Start-Up to Watch’ award based on the semiconductor company’s potential to positively change its market through the innovative use of semiconductor technology or a new application for semiconductor technology.
