NASHVILLE, Tenn.--()--Brown Water Spirits LLC, the maker of O.H. Ingram River Aged, announced today that its whiskeys are now available in markets across Louisiana – marking a significant step in the brand’s expansion along the Mississippi River.

O.H. Ingram River Aged is the only whiskey in the world aged inside a floating rickhouse, moored on the Mississippi River in Ballard County, Kentucky. The first expression in the Ingram River Aged Series, Ingram River Aged Straight Whiskey, formally launched in October of 2020, followed by Ingram River Aged Straight Rye in December 2020 and Ingram River Aged Flagship Bourbon in August 2021. A fourth expression is slated for release in late 2021.

O.H. Ingram’s proprietary floating rickhouse matures Ingram River Aged in a way that no landlocked rickhouse can accomplish. The dramatic rise and fall of the Mighty Mississippi, along with intense temperature and humidity swings, provoke an intense interaction between wooden barrel and whiskey. The rickhouse is moored at the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, where churning water ensures this whiskey never stops working, creating a mature taste well beyond its years. You can see full details about the science here.

“O.H. Ingram River Aged Whiskey is, in many ways, the culmination of hundreds of years of whiskey history,” said founder and proprietor Hank Ingram. “Expanding into the Louisiana market is a major part of that. When whiskey first began to be produced at a large scale in Kentucky, it was floated down the Mississippi River to New Orleans, and then on to ports around the world. As I was creating O.H. Ingram River Aged, I realized that this shipment process may have had more effect than people realized on creating the flavor of this beloved beverage, and I wanted to tap back into those roots with our products. Now, we are excited to be expanding the availability of our products along the Mississippi River – first launching in Tennessee and Kentucky, and then ‘floating’ down to Louisiana, just like the good old days.”

Hank is no outsider to the river industry, with his great-great-great-grandfather first discovering the power of the rushing river over 150 years ago when he founded the Empire Lumber Company, which shipped lumber down the Chippewa and Mississippi Rivers. That expanded into a barge-centered shipping company that is an industry leader to this day. O.H. Ingram River Aged is just the latest addition to Hank’s river-bound family history.

In partnership with Louisiana distributor Republic National Distributing Company, O.H. Ingram is now available in retail package stores, bars and restaurants across Louisiana. O.H. Ingram is partnering with R.S. Lipman and Vintage Point to help manage its sales and distribution.
