Disability:IN Named to Fast Company’s Brands That Matter List

Recognition advances Disability:IN as a game-changing global brand for people with disabilities in the workplace

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--()--Disability:IN, the global organization driving disability inclusion and equality in business, has been named to Fast Company’s first-ever Brands That Matter list for its work advancing disability inclusion in the workplace.

Brands That Matter honors companies and nonprofits that have had an undeniable impact on business and culture and authentically communicate their mission and ideals. Disability:IN is featured alongside game-changing brands such as AARP, Feeding America, McDonalds and Sesame Workshop. The complete list of winners can be found here.

Backed by some of the world’s most powerful companies, Disability:IN has been a fixture in the disability movement for over a decade, rebranding from the U.S. Business Leadership Network to Disability:IN in 2019. The organization today partners with more than 400 companies that are ready to take action on disability inclusion and ESG initiatives. Disability:IN provides benchmarking, conferences, programs, expert counsel and corporate engagement initiatives that transform enterprises and promote societal progress. With these investments, companies see significant gains in profitability, increased innovation, improved shareholder value and an enhanced reputation.

“As a global leader in the movement for disability inclusion in business, we’re thrilled that Fast Company has named us to its inaugural Brands That Matter list. This recognition validates and celebrates our mission and our efforts alongside CEOs, boards, investors and companies to build a truly disability-inclusive global economy,” said Jill Houghton, President and CEO of Disability:IN.

Fast Company judged brands on their relevance, cultural impact, ingenuity, and business impact. July 2020 marked the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the launch of Disability:IN’s #AreYouIN campaign. To date, 85 CEOs have taken the Disability Equality Index, a comprehensive program Disability:IN created with the American Association of People with Disabilities that last year helped 319 companies benchmark their progress on disability initiatives. Additionally, 32 investors and more than 2,000 people have joined the campaign.

“Fast Company is excited to highlight companies and organizations that have built brands with deep meaning and connections to the customers they serve. At a time when consumers are holding companies to very high standards, businesses have much to learn from these brands that have garnered respect and trust,” says Stephanie Mehta, editor-in-chief of Fast Company.
