HomeCare Connect’s Teresa Williams Leads National Comp Conference Panel on Lessons Learned About Protecting Employees’ Mental Health During COVID-19

WINTER PARK, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Before entering the workers’ compensation industry, HomeCare Connect’s Managing Partner Teresa Wiliams, MSW, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker, worked in psychiatric settings. She relied on her clinical background to help her employees navigate the emotional upheaval of the pandemic.

Williams, Erica Fichter, Chief Operating Officer, Medical Management and Accident and Health of Broadspire, a Crawford Company; and Dawn Soleta, Claims Manager for Ecolab, Inc. will present “Unprecedented Times, Unforgettable Lessons on the Impact of Mental Wellbeing” on October 20 at 2:30 p.m. at the National Comp Conference.

According to NORC at the University of Chicago, 40 percent of Americans reported increased mental distress due to the pandemic. Presenters will share what and how their companies communicated, policies they changed, and programs they created to relieve stress and anxiety among their teams.

“We wanted to ensure that our culture of caring translated into taking care of our employees during the pandemic,” Williams said. “People worried about COVID-19 and stressed over the changes in their lives, the economy, and uncertainty in their jobs. We produced webinars on managing stress, continually shared the latest science on the virus, openly discussed the impact on our business, and what we were doing to protect everyone’s jobs.”

With more than 48,000 associates across the globe, Ecolab brings an international perspective to the presentation, and Broadspire/Crawford’s Fichter focuses on lessons learned that the organization plans to incorporate permanently.

“Protecting employees’ mental health is just as important as protecting their physical health and safety,” Williams added. “It’s really a form of risk management.”
