Onyx Technology Launches Website for Comprehensive Understanding of CMS Payer-to-Payer Interoperability Mandate

PayertoPayer.com provides detailed education for Payer-to-Payer Data Exchange (PDex)

ELKRIDGE, Md.--()--Onyx Technology, LLC today announced the launch of PayertoPayer.com, a website providing a comprehensive education and analysis of the CMS Payer-to-Payer mandate and a detailed explanation of the Payer-to-Payer Data Exchange (PDex) requirements allowing patients access to their health records as they move between payers.

The new Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) interoperability mandates for health plans (CMS Interoperability and Patient Access Rule) became mandatory July 1, 2021, with the goal of improving patients access to their personal health data, benefits, and provider network information. The next phase of the mandate is to enable Payer-to-Payer Data Exchange (PDex), empowering health plans to share beneficiaries’ health information as patients move between plans.

PayertoPayer.com is led by Onyx’s Chief Interoperability Officer and CMS Blue Button Innovator, Mark Scrimshire who is the co-chair of the HL7 Payer Data Exchange Workgroup and author of the Da Vinci Payer Data Exchange Implementation Guide (IG).

“Mark has been instrumental in defining the Implementation Guide for the payer-to-payer data exchange (PDex) and this makes the site uniquely valuable for the industry,” said Susheel Ladwa, Onyx’s CEO. “At Onyx we have been fielding many questions about what payer-to-payer is, how to meet the mandate, how to implement it, and so on. To answer all these queries, we are glad to announce the launch of PayertoPayer.com as an industry resource to help understand the CMS mandate and the best ways to implement it. The site also allows clients to get in touch with us directly for support.”

PayertoPayer.com seeks to provide a one-stop information resource for payers seeking to be compliant with the CMS Regulations for the Payer-to-Payer data exchange. The website’s FAQ Section answers questions about the implementation requirements for the regulation. Further, its Specification for Payers section provides Payers/Health Plans with the HL7 Da Vinci Payer Data Exchange (PDex) Implementation Guide, enabling payers to create a Member’s Health History using clinical resources (using US Core Profiles based on FHIR R4). The site will continue to add content, making it a necessary resource in today’s interoperability marketplace.
