Team of Former Insight Partners Investors Launch Nexa Equity

New Private Equity Firm to Pursue Investments in Differentiated, Rapidly Scaling Lower Middle Market Software and Fintech Businesses

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nexa Equity LLC, a private equity firm focused on rapidly scaling lower middle market software and fintech businesses that address markets underserved by technology, today announced its official launch. The firm was founded by Managing Partner Vlad Besprozvany, a former investor at Insight Partners and Managing Director at Greater Sum Ventures, along with former teammates who worked closely together at Insight Partners and bring substantial investment and operational experience investing in and growing successful companies. Nexa Equity will be focused primarily on control buyouts with strong alignment from current management teams but may selectively pursue other investment structures.

Nexa Equity will target founder-led software and fintech companies with revenues ranging from $5 million to $20 million in the application software, healthcare IT, and electronic payments enablement sectors, among others. The Nexa Equity team will bring a hands-on approach to its portfolio companies and work closely with management teams to facilitate growth organically and through strategic M&A as well as execute operational improvements. This highly successful approach was utilized in notable investments in which the Nexa Equity team was involved while at Insight Partners, including Checkout.com, Inhabit IQ, EveryAction, and PayIt, among others.

“Nexa Equity launches with an exceptional team, a differentiated strategy, and considerable experience gained from our involvement in executing and leading over 50 transactions on behalf of renowned software-focused investment firms,” said Besprozvany. “Our guiding thesis is to help build high-performing companies that serve market areas that are behind the curve on tech adoption. We believe this opportunity is currently overlooked at the company size we are pursuing, as many software-focused funds have grown to target larger assets. We are excited to work with founders and management teams to help them scale their companies and achieve their long-term business objectives faster and with more certainty.”

The Nexa Equity team has highly complementary skillsets as well as a wealth of software, tech and payments investing and operating experience. The full team includes:

  • Vlad Besprozvany, Founder and Managing Partner. Vlad was with Insight Partners from 2016 to 2019, where he helped grow the buyout team and lead investments in software and financial technology. Most recently, he was a Managing Director at Greater Sum Ventures, a private investment firm, where he led the sourcing team, and launched software-focused platform investments and completed add-on acquisitions. Earlier in his career, Vlad worked at Thoma Bravo and as a Technology, Media and Telecommunications investment banker at JP Morgan and Citigroup.
  • Shelley Perry, Growth Partner. Shelley was most recently an Operating Partner with Insight Partners from 2016 to 2020 and specializes in advising visionary CEOs on how to maximize growth during the transition from startup to scaleup, accelerated by institutional funding. She has significant understanding of both operator and investor perspectives, having also previously served as a CEO, CPO or CTO at Bynder, Ticketmaster, HP and NTT.
  • Todd Cramer, Principal. Todd was previously an investor at Insight Partners where he focused on growth equity investments in software companies. Most recently, he was Vice President of Strategy and Growth at Ubiquiti Inc , a publicly traded wireless networking company. Earlier in his career, Todd worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company.
  • Joey Maloney, Principal. Most recently, Joey was a Vice President at Luminate Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on growth buyouts in the enterprise software market. Earlier in his career he was an investment banker at Arbor Advisors and management consultant at Waterstone Management Group.
