Satellite Healthcare Dialysis Centers: Rated the National Leader in Patient Experience

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The most recent ratings from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) show Satellite Healthcare is leading the industry, having received the highest percentage of Patient Experience 4 and 5 star rated centers as compared to all other top ranked dialysis providers in the United States.

CMS’s most recent ‘Survey of Patients’ Experiences Star Program’ reveals that Satellite Healthcare Dialysis centers rate a full 32% higher than the national average with 100% rated 3, 4 or 5 stars, and 84% rated 4 or 5 stars - an 8 percent increase over Satellite Healthcare’s scores last year. Satellite Healthcare is also the only provider among those rated to have none of its centers rated lower than 3 stars.

Additionally, CMS’s ‘Dialysis Facility Compare (DFC) Star Program’ reports that Satellite Healthcare once again exceeds the national average in the ‘Quality of Patient Care’ category with 94% of its dialysis centers rated 3, 4, or 5 stars and 62% receiving a rating of 4 or 5 stars.

“Individualizing patient care and ‘humanizing dialysis’ are our calling and our commitment,” said Brigitte Schiller, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Satellite Healthcare who also stated, “These Patient Experience and Quality of Patient Care ratings by CMS are a reflection of our commitment to our patients, families, caregivers and the communities in which we operate.”

“Ensuring our patients have the best possible experience at every interaction is a top priority for the Satellite Healthcare team,” said Ian Farwell, DSW, Senior Director of Patient Experience at Satellite. “The dedication from our teams in the field, coupled with patient engagement, has fueled our successes as a not-for-profit and Caring Dialysis Organization (CDO) which remains mission driven to promote quality of life for our patients.”

Bernadette Vincent, Satellite Healthcare’s President and Chief Operations Officer said, “These excellent ratings from CMS reflect the combined efforts of our center staff and physician partners, all of whom put patient care first. A huge thank you to each of the healthcare heroes at Satellite Healthcare who work tirelessly to make our mission a reality every day.”

About the CMS 5-Star Rating Program

The ‘Dialysis Facility Compare (DFC) Star Program’ and the ‘In-Center Hemodialysis Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (ICH CAHPS),’ are rating systems developed by The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that assign 1 to 5 stars to dialysis facilities by comparing the health and experiences of the patients in their clinics to the patients in other dialysis facilities across the country.
