Mario Azar, Key Architect of Black & Veatch Power Transformation, Joins Company’s Board of Directors

As decarbonization efforts accelerate across industries, power services leader sees a bright future in green energy solutions

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Black & Veatch, a leading provider of critical human infrastructure solutions, today announced that Mario Azar, president of its global Power business has been named to the company’s Board of Directors.

Azar joined Black & Veatch in late 2018, during a time of accelerating transformation across the power industry, with global shift towards de-carbonization continuing to drive innovation along the path to the new energy transition. Azar was instrumental in re-positioning Black & Veatch Power to adapt to the changing power landscape and continues to lead the power business in this direction. He brings more than 30 years of energy industry experience to the Board as well as service as a member of the company’s executive committee.

Azar’s global energy leadership experience includes serving as CEO of Siemens Oil & Gas and Marine, an engineered solutions and integration business unit operating globally in more than 21 countries. In addition, he was executive vice president of Power Generation Solutions Americas for Siemens, where he led and substantially grew the volume and profitability of the business focused on integrating power plant solutions and providing value-added services to power customers.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and lives in Overland Park, Kansas with his wife and two children.
