Nucleus Research’s 2021 ERP Value Matrix Highlights Increased Demand, Shift to PaaS Model

Deltek, Infor, Microsoft, Oracle and SYSPRO named “Leaders” in the ERP space

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Demand for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software continued to grow last year despite disruptions brought on by the pandemic, according to Nucleus Research’s 2021 ERP Value Matrix.

Nucleus Research named Deltek, Infor, Microsoft, Oracle and SYSPRO “Leaders” amongst ERP software providers for their ability to expand the functional scope of their offerings to better accommodate additional business process across various departments.

“The ERP system has become a significant component in any IT ecosystem,” said Research Manager Isaac Gould. “The leading vendors in this space are quickly accommodating the changing needs of organizations returning back to work and making it easier for them to create customized solutions based on their respective needs.”

Gould points to vendors increasingly offering a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) model for users. This approach allows vendors to provide the framework to add new solutions or microservices, like analytics, chatbots and data management, onto the existing system for improved customization and platform flexibility.

The report found customers are also more likely to deepen their investments with vendors if flexible PaaS offerings are implemented, providing customers with cost-saving efficiencies and avoidance of excessive recurring license fees. Nucleus believes these offerings will soon become popular amongst SMB customers since ERP platform applications, modules, and add-ins can be deployed as needed.
