Ryder Named One of America’s Best Employers For Diversity in 2021 by Forbes

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a leader in supply chain, dedicated transportation, and fleet management solutions, has been recognized as one of the top companies in the United States dedicated to diversity, equality, and inclusion as part of Forbes’ fourth annual list of America’s Best Employers For Diversity in 2021.

“Embracing diversity is at the heart of Ryder’s culture, and we have seen the tremendous value of having diversity across every part of our business. This distinction from Forbes solidifies the value we place in our people,” says Ryder Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Robert Sanchez. “By building an inclusive work environment and fostering employee relationships, Ryder celebrates our diverse team members and remains dedicated to creating a workplace that values and empowers all individuals.”

Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to survey 50,000 Americans who work for businesses with at least 1,000 employees to find which companies they recognized as the most devoted to promoting and exemplifying diversity, equity, and inclusion. Respondents rated organizations based on a number of criteria including age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, equality, and general diversity. The list ranks the 500 employers that not only received the most recommendations, but also boast the most diverse boards and executive ranks and the most proactive diversity and inclusion initiatives.

While this is the first time Ryder has been included on the Forbes list of America’s Best Employers For Diversity, the company has been focused on increasing its diversity representation on an ongoing basis. In 2020, 63% of new employees hired by Ryder were diverse based on gender and ethnicity, as compared to 54% in 2016.

“The diverse backgrounds and perspectives of our workforce help us better understand and respond to our customers’ needs, resulting in increased profitability and long-term value,” adds Sanchez.

Ryder is a proud leader in the logistics and transportation industry, and recognizes that the skill and expertise of its diverse employees help make Ryder Ever better™. Ryder has also been previously recognized on Forbes’ lists of America’s Best Employers, World’s Best Employers, and Best Employers for Women.
