Announcing the Availability of Certified Istio Administrator Exam by Tetrate

The industry-first certification to validate the skills of Istio professionals

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Enterprises are increasing their investments in digital transformation and in hiring the right talent to accelerate the journey. According to the 2020 open source jobs report from Linux Foundation, 52% of hiring managers are more likely to hire someone with a certification, up from 47% two years ago. Not so surprisingly, 93% of hiring managers report difficulty finding sufficient talent.

Tetrate, the leader in application aware networking, started by Istio founders, today announced the public availability of its exam for Certified Istio Administrator by Tetrate (CIAT). This is an online, proctored, performance-based exam that consists of a set of problems to be solved in a command line and multiple-choice questions. The exam is currently based on Istio 1.9.1 running on Kubernetes, and candidates have 2 hours to complete the tasks. The exam tests Istio competencies in:

Istio Installation, upgrade & configuration

  • Traffic management
  • Resiliency and fault injection
  • Securing workloads
  • Advanced off k8s scenarios

“Istio is in the adoption and transition phase of moving from emerging technology to well embraced. For every Kubernetes cluster that’s orchestrating containerized apps, there will be an Istiod. In fact, Istio can weave the mesh to VM workloads as well” said Varun Talwar, cofounder & CEO of Tetrate Inc. “Tetrate recognizes the increasing need and contributes significantly to build a community and talent pool around both Istio and Envoy.”

In February, Tetrate launched a free online training & certification on Istio Fundamentals which directly maps to the requirements for CIAT. Over 600 IT professionals have taken the training since then.

Availability

The CIAT exam is now publicly available on Tetrate Academy for anyone to take and costs $299.
