South Shore University Hospital Announces Opening of Medical Library

BAY SHORE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--South Shore University Hospital (SSUH) officials today announced the opening of University Library, a new medical library on the hospital campus.

The hospital library and information common space is meant to support the learning and education of clinicians and staff at SSUH, which is part of Northwell Health. It is a space where clinicians will have access to tens of thousands of medical journals, e-books and other learning platforms.

“It is incredibly important for our clinicians and caregivers to have a space to learn,” said Donna Moravick, RN, executive director of South Shore University Hospital. “Whether they’re physicians or nurses, this is a space where people can educate themselves on the latest advances in medicine.”

Having a library space demonstrates Northwell’s commitment to encouraging a lifetime of learning and innovation in healthcare.

The University Library, which took six months to construct, features four computers, five lounge seats and will soon have an outdoor seating section overlooking SSUH’s Heroes Plaza.

It is designed to encourage both individual and group learning.
