Hexion to Co-Host Panel on How Adhesives Are Helping Push the Boundaries of Wood Building Design at Virtual 2021 Mass Timber Conference

COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As interest continues to grow in the use of mass timber products for mid-rise commercial, institutional and multi-family construction, Hexion Inc. will address the critical importance of adhesives in the manufacturing of these materials, as well as safety, strength and sustainability considerations at the Mass Timber Conference, March 30 through April 1.

Scott McIntyre, North America business director for the performance adhesives business unit at Hexion, will co-host a virtual panel discussion entitled “VOCs, Adhesives, and Impacts on Occupants” from 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, March 31. The panel will explore the evolution of structural wood adhesives from protein and animal-based products to synthetic polymer technologies to the next generation of adhesives. The functionality of various adhesive technologies will be discussed as well as their volatile organic compound (VOC) impacts throughout mass timber product lifecycles: during manufacturing, in use, and at the end-of-life.
