Pajama Program Marks 20th Anniversary Year With Ambitious Goal to Provide One Million Good Nights

Sponsors Invited to Join Carter’s and Scholastic in Pajama Program’s National Awareness and Fundraising Campaign to Impact the Lives of One Million Children through Comforting Bedtimes and Healthy Sleep

NEW YORK--()--National nonprofit Pajama Program is marking its 20th anniversary with One Million Good Nights, a campaign to impact the lives of one million children facing adversity by delivering the bedtime tools, sleep awareness, and caring connections that children and their caregivers need to support a comforting bedtime routine and a good night’s sleep. To meet this ambitious goal, Pajama Program announces a year of events and engagement opportunities for supporters, including long-time lead partners, Carter’s, Inc. and Scholastic Book Clubs.

Pajama Program believes “Good Nights Are Good Days” because the foundation for wellness and success starts at bedtime. Following a comforting bedtime routine and getting healthy sleep help protect against illness, reduce anxiety, and build resilience, each of which is critical as children and families continue to cope with the challenges of COVID-19. Through One Million Good Nights, Pajama Program aims to secure the additional resources and support needed to deliver new pajamas and books, comprehensive sleep health education programs, and community engagement to reach one million children experiencing uncertainty in their lives.

“Since its inception in 2001, Pajama Program has collaborated with a wide variety of corporate and community partners to deliver Good Nights for Good Days and help children thrive. With the increased stress that COVID-19 has placed on children, parents, and caregivers, it is imperative to honor our 20th year with a robust call to action in order amplify our work and meet increased needs,” said Jamie Dyce, Pajama Program’s Executive Director. "The continuous support of lead partners, Carter’s and Scholastic Book Clubs, has greatly expanded our reach over the years. We look forward to extending our impact through One Million Good Nights with the support of additional partners.”

One Million Good Nights kicked off with a Carter’s holiday activation. The partnership garnered the support of Carter’s customers at the registers and online, supplied pajamas to Pajama Program’s distribution network, and engaged the community in interactive virtual events, such as a pajama dance party with Leslie Odom, Jr. and his family. Carter’s, Inc., the largest branded marketer in North America of apparel exclusively for babies and young children, has provided more than two million pairs of cozy pajamas and raised over $12 million dollars over the past 11 years to support Pajama Program’s mission.

Long-time Pajama Program Lead Book Partner, Scholastic Book Clubs, will roll out a campaign to engage students, teachers, and parents from March 9–16. In addition to receiving a selection of Pajama Program’s signature sleep health materials, teachers and families will have the opportunity to buy The Napping House by Caldecott Medal winner Audrey Wood for just $1. Scholastic Book Clubs will match each purchase during this campaign with a book donation to Pajama Program. A division of Scholastic, the world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books, Scholastic Book Clubs has supported Pajama Program since 2007 by providing children with comfort through the power of over 1.25 million books and encouraging a love of reading before bedtime.

Pajama Program will host additional national, local, and virtual events throughout 2021 to raise awareness and funds to support the One Million Good Nights goal. Signature events include the 20th Anniversary Virtual Gala on May 6 and the National Pajama Walk on October 2. Additional sponsorship and engagement opportunities include custom highlight month sponsorships, virtual employee volunteer engagements, the PajamaTALK guest speaker series, the book launch for Sweet Dreams Ahead, Time for Bed by bestselling children’s author Tish Rabe, and more.

“Partnering with Pajama Program to create a gentle, rhyming storybook with beautiful illustrations that presents the steps of a successful bedtime routine was a very rewarding experience. I am excited that Sweet Dreams Ahead, Time for Bed will be used in Pajama Program’s sleep health curriculum and that the April book launch will support the One Million Good Nights campaign! Pajama Program’s work with children and caregivers is not only critical, it’s inspiring! I am pleased to be one of the voices to celebrate and promote Pajama Program’s mission,” said Tish Rabe, One Million Good Nights committee member.

Support from individuals and corporate groups throughout the country can help Pajama Program provide one million children facing adversity with the strength, security, and resilience that comes from a comforting bedtime routine and healthy sleep.
