Securian Financial Introduces New Investment-Only Variable Annuity

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Securian Financial has launched MultiOption® Momentum, an investment-only variable annuity (IOVA) offering a distinctive combination of both indexed and variable investment options in a tax-deferred, variable annuity.

Issued by Minnesota Life Insurance Company, MultiOption Momentum gives financial professionals a new, competitive choice to build retirement portfolios for their clients.

“MultiOption Momentum is our first IOVA. It is a very compelling product, providing customization, flexibility and the ability to build risk hedge, all in one product. We believe financial professionals currently writing IOVAs will find it particularly attractive,” said Chris Owens, Securian Financial’s national sales vice president for retail life insurance and annuities.

IOVAs allow investors to set aside taxable assets in a tax-deferred instrument focused only on investment. With MultiOption Momentum, investors have the ability to customize the product to meet their needs with optional benefits for an additional cost.

Key MultiOption Momentum product features include:

  • More than 70 variable investment options
  • Two indexed account options
  • One guaranteed interest account option
  • Securian Financial’s strength and ratings*

MultiOption® Momentum is available to all Securian Financial-approved distribution channels. Financial professionals interested in learning more can call the Securian Financial Sales Desk at 1-866-335-7355.

An annuity is intended to be a long-term, tax-deferred retirement vehicle. Earnings are taxable as ordinary income when distributed, and if withdrawn before age 59½, may be subject to a 10% federal tax penalty. If the annuity will fund an IRA or other tax qualified plan, the tax deferral feature offers no additional value. Qualified distributions from a Roth IRA are generally excluded from gross income, but taxes and penalties may apply to non-qualified distributions. Please consult a tax advisor for specific information. There are charges and expenses associated with annuities, such as deferred sales charges for early withdrawals. Variable annuities have additional expenses such as mortality and expense risk, administrative charges, investment management fees and rider fees. The variable subaccounts of variable annuities are subject to market fluctuation, investment risk and loss of principal.

MultiOption annuities and optional benefits may not be approved in all states and features may vary by state. Not available in New York. The guarantees in MultiOption annuities are subject to the financial strength and claims paying ability of Minnesota Life. The guarantees have no bearing on the performance of the variable investment options.

We reserve the right to limit or discontinue acceptance of future purchase payments after the contract is issued. This may limit the ability to increase the contract value through additional purchase payments. If an optional benefit is elected in the contract, this may also limit the ability to increase the value used to calculate the optional benefit.

The indexes are not available for direct investment.
