York Capital Bolsters Private Equity Team and Announces Promotions

Seasoned Private Equity Executive Seth Pearson Joins as Managing Director

NEW YORK--()--York Capital Management (“York”), a global private investment firm, today announced that seasoned private equity investor Seth Pearson has joined York’s private equity group as Managing Director. Mr. Pearson will be responsible for deal sourcing, transaction execution, and portfolio company oversight and will be joining the investment committee of the York Special Opportunities Fund III (“YSOF III”), York private equity’s most recent investment fund, with approximately $800 million in committed capital.

Prior to joining York, Mr. Pearson spent over 13 years at Wellspring Capital Management LLC, most recently as a Partner. At Wellspring, he helped found and lead the firm’s healthcare investment efforts and also led investments in the niche manufacturing and specialty distribution sectors. Mr. Pearson began his career at Wachovia Securities, in the Leveraged Finance Origination & Execution group. He graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies.

York private equity also announced the promotions of Rodman Ngo and Max Slivka to Principal, and Lyle Berstein and Jeff Nutkis to Vice President and recently added Jack Plattus as an Associate.

Messrs. Ngo and Slivka joined York in 2018 and 2017, respectively. Prior to joining York, Mr. Ngo was at Platinum Private Equity, and before that was a Consumer and Retail investment banker at JPMorgan Chase & Co. Mr. Slivka joined York from Pegasus Capital Advisors, and before that was an Industrials investment banker at Citigroup. Mr. Berstein and Mr. Nutkis joined York in 2019 from Lindsay Goldberg and Lone Star Funds, respectively. Mr. Plattus joined York in late 2020 from The TCW Group.

In April 2020, York successfully closed its third and largest private equity fund, YSOF III, with capital commitments of approximately $800 million. YSOF III’s investment strategy primarily targets control investments in middle-market businesses led by founders and/or experienced management teams. YSOF III generally employs a conservative approach to leverage, targeting investment returns from growth and achieving management plans. It seeks to take advantage of unique company situations across cycles and sectors and has a target equity investment size of $50–$200 million.
