Fuze Enhances Collaboration with New Patent for Synchronized Viewing of Shared Content

Patent enables users to collaborate on a shared screen in real-time during video calls

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fuze, the leading cloud-based communications provider for the modern global enterprise, today announced that it has been awarded a new patent for a system where workers collaborate on a shared screen during a video call. The invention enables Fuze users to synchronously review and annotate documents on the same screen.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued Fuze U.S. Patent No. 10887549 on January 5, 2021. As opposed to a screen share, this invention provides all video call participants the ability to mark up, track, and advance documents on a shared screen, including PDFs, videos, and images. For example, when viewing a video on a Fuze shared screen, all users have access to rich indicators to pause, add comments, and advance the video.

“With more people working remotely, we’ve seen a demand for functionality that can help workers collaborate more easily and mirror the experience of in-office work,” said Rob Scudiere, president and chief operating officer at Fuze. “At Fuze, we’re committed to constantly innovating and providing the remote workforce with new features that empower users to increase productivity and collaborate seamlessly across any device.”
