Plus Joins PAVE to Increase Public Understanding of How Automated Trucks Make Our Roads Safer and Our Air Cleaner

CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Plus (formerly Plus.ai), a leading developer of automated truck technology, announced today it has joined Partners for Automated Vehicle Education (PAVE) to help build public understanding of the way automated trucks work and how they make our roads safer and our air cleaner. As the first automated trucking developer to commercialize its driving system, which starts mass production this year, Plus wants to demystify the artificial intelligence technologies behind self-driving, and show how these technologies keep automated trucks and road users safe while addressing driver shortage. The Plus driving system also optimizes fuel economy on automated trucks, which leads to reduced carbon emissions.

Plus has partnered with four of the largest truck OEMs in the world, Tier 1 suppliers, and Fortune 500 companies with the largest private fleets to bring its automated driving system for heavy trucks to market. The first intelligent trucks powered by the Plus driving system will start mass production this year.

“It would benefit everyone to have a deeper understanding of automated trucks, how they work, and how they can make our world better. With 70% of the goods we use and consume daily transported by trucks, these vehicles have a significant impact on our lives and our economy. Heavy trucks are not vehicles most consumers have operated, so we are excited to work with PAVE and fellow members to create opportunities for the public to learn more about automated trucking and our technology,” said Shawn Kerrigan, COO and Co-founder, Plus.

“We are delighted to have Plus, one of the leaders in automated trucking development, join PAVE in our mission to raise the level of public understanding about automated vehicles and the potential they offer,” said PAVE Executive Director Tara Andringa. “Automated trucking is a vibrant, growing sector, and likely one of the places where the public will have its first exposure to automated vehicle technologies. We are eager to help the public understand more about this technology and its transformative potential, and we are thrilled to have Plus join us in this effort and share their expertise.”

In 2021, Plus will partner with PAVE on a number of virtual programs that will allow the public to see the Plus automated trucks in action and learn more about its technologies from its engineers and partners.
