Linktree and GoFundMe join forces to drive clicks for global change

In the lead up to the Holiday giving period, the growing startup has teamed up with GoFundMe to make it easier for Americans to give back to the top causes of 2020

LOS ANGELES--()--Linktree today announced they’ve joined forces with the online fundraising platform GoFundMe to help users take action and give back to causes they care about. Aptly named The Giving Tree, the initiative aims to connect Linktree’s global user base of over nine million with GoFundMe’s top causes of 2020, making activism and giving more accessible in the lead up to the holiday period.

  1. Martha’s Kitchen
  2. HIP Housing
  3. Garden Resource Program

Linktree, the trusted tech platform that connects audiences to a user’s entire online ecosystem, has seen an evolution in the power of the tool to connect and motivate online communities to local and national issues. The Giving Tree launch follows a growing synergy between the two companies, with the causes centered around providing housing and meals to underprivileged families throughout the holiday season.

GoFundMe has seen an increase in donations to those in need from Linktree accounts, with users motivated to contribute to causes around the world. There have been over 4.4 million visits to the anti-racism action banner enabled on Linktree accounts since June, which drove a 460% increase in Linktree users visiting GoFundMe to donate and raise awareness for racial equality initiatives. Linktree users and visitors raised nearly US$200,000 on GoFundMe for causes around the world in June 2020 alone. Action and awareness on the two platforms continued to grow throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Alex Zaccaria, Co-Founder and CEO of Linktree, said, “Since we started in 2016 the Linktree audience is continually evolving and adapting to connect creators, businesses, artists, musicians, media platforms – and increasingly, by game-changing organizations and activists who use their account to cut through the noise, direct people to the facts and spark action.

“Whether it’s been with the goals of raising funds for the Black Lives Matter Movement, awareness and education around the 2020 presidential election, or supporting industries impacted by the global pandemic, it’s clear that online audiences are engaging in donations or causes online like never before. The Giving Tree is the next natural step in connecting our global user base to the issues and organizations shaping public discourse today.”

Kelly Galvin, Global Head of Strategic Partnerships & Philanthropy at GoFundMe, said, “This year community has been at the heart of fundraising efforts on GoFundMe. People around the world have come together to inspire hope and change lives through giving. The response we have seen to justice & equality causes and COVID-19 related relief has been like no other time in GoFundMe’s ten-year history. GoFundMe and Linktree have a mutual commitment to bringing together people who want to help others in times of need and providing an easy way to do so. Launching the Giving Tree will connect our communities and help spread more generosity this holiday season.” Linktree users can activate The Giving Tree banner on their Linktree account from today.
