The Standard Promotes Lauren Canfield to Assistant Vice President and Actuary, Actuarial Transformation

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Standard Insurance Company (The Standard) announced today that Lauren Canfield has been promoted to assistant vice president and actuary, Actuarial Transformation.

Canfield joined The Standard in 2006 and has held actuarial positions in The Standard’s commercial mortgage division and the corporate actuarial team. Most recently, as second vice president of Corporate Actuarial and Risk Management, she provided key actuarial consultation and insight to other areas of the business including financial and capital planning, investments and other product lines at The Standard. In 2020 she stepped into a short-term leadership assignment over financial forecasting and pricing for supplemental products and the large case market in the Employee Benefits business.

In her new role, Canfield will be focused on the strategic process and technology decisions that will reimagine and transform the actuarial function across The Standard.

“Actuarial transformation is an opportunity for us to rethink our actuarial function at The Standard to anticipate and respond to rapidly changing market conditions,” said Sally Manafi, vice president, corporate actuary and chief risk officer at The Standard. “Lauren is the right leader to bring this vision to fruition.”

Canfield earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and music at the University of Portland. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
