Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits Appoints Paul Altarez to Executive Vice President and General Manager of Pennsylvania

MIAMI & DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits (Southern Glazer's)—the world’s preeminent distributor of beverage alcohol—today announced it has appointed Paul Altarez to the role of Executive Vice President and General Manager of Pennsylvania, effective November 23, 2020. Altarez, who will report directly to U.S. Control States Region President Pat Pokorny, will be responsible for the Company’s performance in the state. Altarez replaces Kim Scarpone, who was promoted to Senior Vice President of Spirits in Nevada.

Altarez joined Southern Glazer’s in 2001 as a Retail/Restaurant & Hospitality Account Manager for the Mid-Atlantic Midwest Region. In 2006, he held the position of On-Premise Manager for the North American Spirits & Wine (NASW) dedicated division, and in 2011, he served as the Marketing Manager for the East Control Region. In 2012, Altarez was promoted to the role of NASW Vice President and General Manager of Virginia and West Virginia, as well as Michigan in 2015. In his most recent role, Altarez was the Vice President and General Manager for Michigan and was recognized for starting a key division for various large supplier portfolios.

Paul earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Virginia-Wise.
