Emiliano Román Joins Rockefeller Capital Management as Managing Director and Head of Consumer and Retail

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rockefeller Capital Management (“Rockefeller” or the “Firm”) today announced the appointment of Emiliano Román as Managing Director and Head of Consumer and Retail in its Strategic Advisory practice. In his role, Román will be based in New York and will lead Rockefeller’s strategic advisory activities and capital-based solutions across the consumer and retail industries. He will report to R. Mitchell Theiss, President of Strategic Advisory for Rockefeller.

“Emiliano is an accomplished professional with a long career of providing trusted advice across consumer-facing industries,” said Theiss. “With more than 15 years of experience across M&A advisory, capital markets and principal investing, his expertise and relationships will be immediately additive to Rockefeller Capital Management, as we continue to broaden the capabilities we offer to our clients.”

Román’s appointment continues Rockefeller’s trend of attracting talent across its businesses. He joins during a pivotal growth year for the Firm, which has advised Bombardier on the pending $8.2 billion sale of its transportation division to Alstom, Empower Retirement on its $1.0 billion acquisition of Personal Capital, and Borg Warner on its $3.3 billion acquisition of Delphi Technologies. The Firm has also delivered merchant banking solutions to a select group of founder-led businesses, including Allbirds.

“The consumer and retail industries are experiencing significant changes, with many companies looking for high-quality and unbiased advice,” said Gregory J. Fleming, Rockefeller’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “We believe Emiliano’s deep experience in the industry will position us to capitalize on that opportunity.”

“I am excited to join Rockefeller Capital Management, an independent firm that has crafted a differentiated model of providing advice and capital-based solutions to help clients achieve their strategic and financial objectives,” added Román. “I look forward to working closely with Greg, Mitch, and others on the team as we grow Rockefeller’s activities across the consumer and retail segments.”

Prior to joining Rockefeller, Román served as a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley in New York, where he was responsible for senior coverage of corporate and financial sponsor clients, as well as family-owned and founder-led businesses in the consumer and retail sector globally. While at Morgan Stanley, from 2011 to 2020, Román led the origination and execution of over $100 billion in transactions across a variety of strategic advisory and capital markets assignments. Earlier in his career, from 2004 to 2011, Román was an investment banker in the Global Consumer Products & Retail and Mergers & Acquisitions groups at UBS Investment Bank in New York. He holds a BBA and an MS from Texas A&M University. He serves on the Dean’s Advisory Board at Mays Business School and the board of Glasswing International.
