Grant Thornton’s Robert Hersh named to UConn Academy of Distinguished Engineers class

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Grant Thornton LLP's Robert Hersh, national managing principal of Manufacturing and Food & Beverage, has been inducted into the University of Connecticut (UConn) School of Engineering’s 2020 Academy of Distinguished Engineers.

The Academy, which has inducted 246 total members since its inception in 2003, honors School of Engineering alumni and Connecticut engineers whose careers have been characterized by their sustained and exemplary contributions to the engineering profession through research, practice, education, policy or service. Members are individuals who bring enduring honor to their alma mater as practitioners and as citizens.

“My experience at UConn played a pivotal role in preparing me for my career,” said Hersh. “Joining the Academy of Distinguished Engineers is really not about me. I have been incredibly blessed by having a strong support network around me that has enabled my success. This includes my Grant Thornton colleagues, UConn alumni and, most importantly, my wife and family.”

Hersh joined Grant Thornton in 2011 as a principal in the firm’s Business Advisory Services practice and was the practice leader for that area in the firm’s Metro New York and New England market territory. Based in Stamford, Connecticut, Hersh has more than 30 years of consulting experience in enterprise systems, technology strategy and process analysis and design — as well as strategic planning and operations management. He received a master’s of business administration degree from the University of Notre Dame and a bachelor’s of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Connecticut.
