BTIG Expands Mortgage and Specialty Finance Research and Franchise Sales with Gabe Poggi and Eric Hagen

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BTIG announced today that it has continued the expansion of the firm’s Mortgage and Specialty Finance unit with Gabe Poggi and Eric Hagen, CFA. Mr. Poggi joins BTIG’s Franchise Sales division as a Managing Director, and a Mortgage and Specialty Finance Sales Specialist. Mr. Hagen joins BTIG’s Research and Strategy division as a Director, where he will cover public and private mortgage and specialty finance companies. The firm also recently announced the hiring of Dan Blood, Managing Director and Head of Specialty Finance, and Kimberly Boulmetis, Managing Director, Specialty Finance Investment Banking, to enhance and expand the firm’s investment banking coverage of specialty finance corporate clients.

Mr. Poggi joins BTIG from Shoals Capital, where he spent three years as a Partner and Senior Managing Director. Previously, he was the Director of Research at EJF Capital, where he held the role for nearly four years. Earlier in his career, Mr. Poggi was a publishing Research Analyst covering mortgage and specialty finance at FBR for nine years. He earned a BA in economics from Vanderbilt University.

Prior to BTIG, Mr. Hagen spent six years at KBW, where he published research on mortgage and specialty finance companies and was a Director most recently. Previously, he was an Analyst at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Mr. Hagen earned a BBA in finance, and a master’s degree in real estate finance from Georgetown University. He is also a CFA charterholder.
