HireRight Launches COVID-19 Screening

Leading background check provider helps facilitate businesses’ safe return to work

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HireRight, a leading provider of global employment background checks, drug testing, education verification, and electronic Form I-9 and E-Verify solutions, announced today that COVID-19 Screening is now available in the U.S. through its Drug & Health Screening services. HireRight is offering COVID-19 antigen testing to help employers make more informed decisions about returning employees to the workplace.

As a leader in workplace risk mitigation, HireRight is committed to helping customers navigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their workforces by providing tools to address changes in their hiring and background screening programs.

HireRight has provided customers with guidance and assistance concerning various challenges arising as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. HireRight has helped employers onboard critical new workers in essential roles, navigate public record searches with prolonged court closures, and has assisted employers with adapting their screening and onboarding programs in a rapidly evolving environment.

With the launch of a COVID-19 Screening solution, HireRight furthers this commitment by offering its customers a COVID-19 antigen test option that has received Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) by the FDA.

“As businesses look to reopen their workspaces and begin a return to more normal operations, their success depends on their ability to create an environment that prioritizes the health and safety of their employees and customers,” said Guy Abramo, Chief Executive Officer of HireRight. “HireRight’s goal has always been to help businesses mitigate the inherent risks that come with hiring and employing a workforce. As COVID-19 has shown, those risks can change rapidly from one day to the next, and we will continue to ensure our background screening solutions evolve to meet employers’ needs.”

Employers will have the ability to order a COVID-19 antigen test through the HireRight platform. The test detects the presence of coronavirus in the saliva of the test taker. Unlike blood draws or nasal swabs, the saliva sample is easily self-collected and is not technique dependent.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on the workforce, and we believe that testing is a critical component to allow businesses to move forward from this crisis,” said Dr. Todd Simo, Chief Medical Officer at HireRight. “The addition of COVID-19 testing to HireRight’s Drug & Health Screening services provides employers an additional tool to help them reopen their businesses while striving to reduce the risk to their employees and customers of COVID-19 exposure.”

This test has been authorized only for the detection of nucleic acid from SARS-CoV-2, not for any other viruses or pathogens. This test is only authorized for the duration of the declaration that circumstances exist justifying the authorization of emergency use of in vitro diagnostics for detection and/or diagnosis of COVID-19 under Section 564(b)(1) of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, 21 U.S.C. § 360bbb-3(b)(1), unless the authorization is terminated or revoked sooner.
