Estrella Media Appoints Seasoned News Executive Carlos Tamez as Head of News for Dallas, Houston and Miami

Leading Hispanic media company strengthens its news operations in key local stations

BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Estrella Media announced today that it recently hired seasoned news executive Carlos Tamez to lead the company’s Dallas, Houston and Miami stations’ newsrooms effective immediately.

In his role as news director, Tamez will be responsible for the strategic planning and management of the local newsrooms in Dallas, Houston and Miami, including managing content and production for all news-related programing, which includes two daily newscasts per market.

Tamez is a veteran news executive with more than 25 years of experience in various newsroom capacities, including executive producer and news director for major broadcasters in Mexico and the United States. Most recently, he served as news director for Imagen Television, where he was part of the executive team that launched the network in Mexico, and where he managed a newsroom with over 200 staffers.

Prior to his work at Imagen Television, Tamez worked as an executive producer for KTMD Telemundo Houston, and as news director for KUVN Univision 23 in Dallas. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, Radio & Television from Universidad Anáhuac in Mexico. Tamez will be based in Estrella Media’s Dallas station KMPX 29.
