Hospital is the second Level 1 certified facility in New York State and the only one in Long Island

WESTBURY, N.Y.--()--VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center of Westbury has been certified by the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS) as a Level 1 Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Facility. Level 1 is the highest qualification and certified facilities must meet stringent requirements in operating hours, staffing and equipment.

A Level 1 emergency and critical care facility is a 24-hour acute care facility with the resources and specialty training necessary to provide sophisticated emergent and critical patient care. It must be open to receive emergency patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The facility must also have a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care employed full time and available for consultation either on-site or by phone 24/7.

Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center of Westbury offers specialized care, diagnostics and treatment, including internal medicine, surgery, oncology, neurology, critical care, and 24/7 emergency care for dogs and cats.
