Publix Pharmacy Receives Patient Choice Award

LAKELAND, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Publix Pharmacy recently received the Specialty Pharmacy Patient Choice Award, presented by Zitter Insights, a division of Managed Markets Insights & Technology (MMIT), in the Retail Pharmacy category. This is the first time Publix Pharmacy has received this award.

Publix Pharmacy operates a dual-accredited specialty pharmacy, in addition to the company’s standard retail pharmacy. The specialty pharmacy dispenses and provides support for more complex medications that are not typically found at traditional pharmacies, such as those developed to treat rare diseases.

“Our specialty pharmacy associates help customers with all aspects of starting and staying on therapy, including providing clinical support and seeking financial assistance to offset some costs,” said Publix Vice President of Pharmacy Dain Rusk. “We are proud to be recognized by our customers for our commitment to their health and well-being.”

The Specialty Pharmacy Patient Choice Award was created by MMIT to honor specialty pharmacies and their commitment to patients. It is presented to one winner and one finalist in each of four categories: Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) & Payer Specialty Pharmacy, Hospital and Health System Specialty Pharmacy, Independent Specialty Pharmacy and Retail Pharmacy. Winners and finalists were selected based on scores achieved during quarterly surveys totaling more than 10,000 specialty pharmacy patients.

To be considered for this award, specialty pharmacies meet criteria set by a committee composed of representatives from pharmaceutical manufacturers, health plans, PBMs, trade organizations, consultants and equity research firms.

Publix, the largest employee-owned company in the U.S. with more than 220,000 associates, currently operates 1,252 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
