Margaret (Gaby) Malone Joins Flare Capital as Senior Associate

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Flare Capital Partners, a leading healthcare technology venture capital firm, today announced the addition of healthcare technology investor and experienced human capital advisor Margaret (Gaby) Malone as a Senior Associate.

Throughout her career, Margaret has focused on the transformation of the healthcare industry. She brings a wealth of expertise in venture capital, executive search, and hospital operations through her various roles with 7Wire Ventures, B Capital Group, Oxeon Partners, and Huron Consulting Group. In particular, Margaret is passionate about building companies that enhance the accessibility, affordability, and consumer experience of healthcare. While at 7Wire Ventures, she was a member of the investment team for higi, an investment co-led by 7Wire and Flare Capital.

“We are delighted that Margaret has joined the firm and are excited about the contributions she will make as we continue to scale our investment team,” commented Bill Geary, co-founder and general partner of Flare Capital.

Margaret recently earned her MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business where she received the Madelon L. & Richard N. Rosett Merit Scholarship and the Hyde Park Angels Venture Capital Award. She also holds a BA in Medicine, Health and Society from Vanderbilt University. While in business school, she was a Flare Scholar and is the third Flare Scholar to join the Flare Capital investment team.

“Margaret is a star. We have had the good fortune of working with her on a number of projects and were impressed with her contributions as a Flare Scholar. She will be a lightning rod for the next generation of great healthcare technology entrepreneurs,” observed Michael Greeley, co-founder and general partner of Flare Capital.

In her previous role at Oxeon, she partnered with investors and board leadership to build executive teams and create foundational human capital strategy for early stage healthcare companies. Specifically, Margaret identified emerging talent and advised entrepreneurs as they navigated the complexities of scaling a start-up.

“Margaret is a thought partner for me and her experience working with entrepreneurs and startups will be extremely valuable to the Flare Capital team,” observed Mike Nolan, chief business officer at Freenome, a biotechnology company focused on early cancer detection. “Margaret brings depth, intelligence, experience, and great values to the people and organizations she works with, and I anticipate entrepreneurs will seek her out for the remarkable impact she makes.”

Starting her career as a clinical transformation consultant with Huron Consulting Group’s healthcare practice, Margaret assisted some of the nation’s leading academic medical centers to identify and implement innovations to improve quality and experience of care.

“Margaret looks at the healthcare industry through a unique lens, having worked as a healthcare technology investor and a consultant to hospital executives and early stage entrepreneurs. Margaret has a deep understanding of how technology adds value to healthcare operations and is a trusted advisor to entrepreneurs,” shared Brent Burns, executive vice president for UPMC Enterprises and member of the Industry Advisory Board for Flare Capital.
